The new system is an account-based, open-payment system allowing customers to pay fares using diverse options, including mobile apps, digital wallets such as Apple Pay, contactless bank cards and MTA-issued contactless transit cards. The system also provides customers with multiple 24/7 self-service options for managing their accounts and options to purchase and reload fare media online and at local retailers.
