New Project Announcement - PATH – Replacement of Substation #2, Jersey City

Five Star Electric as a Subcontractor to Yonkers Contracting will be constructing a new two-story steel framed substation building that includes Switchgear, Heavy-duty Traction Power Transformers, Medium Voltage & Traction Power Cables, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA), Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and Security/Access Controls. Also, the construction of a bulkhead for tunnel emergency evacuation shaft and an underground utility connection to existing PATH tunnels and subsurface utilities.  The existing Substation No. 2 was built in 1908 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.  It will remain in service until the new facility is completed.
